The economical, reliable T3 van was manufactured in 1979. The completely newly developed car with its modern, practical design was visibly more spacious than its predecessor. As the last type manufactured by VW with a rear engine it was regarded as the last real Bulli. Depending on the model, its four-cylinder engine offered 50 to 112 hp. As usual, the Transporter appeared in various commercial vehicle versions, but also in the form of a camping bus for private use. Especially the successful version of the Joker from the Gütersloh-based company Westfalia, with which VW had been cooperating successfully since the 1950s, enjoyed great popularity.
